LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers claimed right-handed pitcher Ian Gibaut from the Cleveland Guardians. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred right-handed pitcher Daniel Hudson to the 60-day injured list.
Gibaut, 28, appeared in one game for the Guardians, tossing a scoreless inning on June 27 against the Twins. In parts of four seasons with Tampa Bay (2019), Texas (2020-2021), Minnesota (2021) and Cleveland (2022), he is a combined 1-2 with a 5.19 ERA (20 ER/34.2 IP) and 34 strikeouts. He spent most of the season with Triple-A Columbus, going 2-0 with a 3.20 ERA (7 ER/19.2 IP) and three for five in save opportunities. In his minor league career, he is 20-13 with a 3.17 ERA and 38 saves with 349 strikeouts. He was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 11th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of Tulane.
