Dodgers acquire Yonny Hernández

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired infielder Yonny Hernández from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for cash.

Hernández, 24, played in 12 games with the Arizona Diamondbacks last season, following a trade with the Texas Rangers in April. The switch-hitter appeared in 10 games at third base and two at second base for Arizona and in his big league career has hit .198 with 13 stolen bases while playing shortstop, second base and third base in 55 career games with the Rangers (2021) and Diamondbacks (2022). In seven minor league seasons, primarily with the Rangers’ organization, the native of Venezuela has hit .262 with a .388 on-base percentage, 21 triples and 184 steals in 532 career games. He was originally signed by the Rangers as an amateur free agent on July 3, 2014. Hernández was claimed by Oakland last month and was designated for assignment by the A’s on Tuesday.

The Dodgers’ 40-man roster is now at 39 players.
