The Arizona Diamondbacks agreed with RHP Merrill Kelly on a 2-year contract extension through 2024 with a club option for 2025.
- Named the 2021 D-backs’ Most Valuable Pitcher by the Arizona chapter of the BBWAA after going 7-11 with a 4.44 ERA (78 ER in 158.0 IP) and 130 strikeouts in 27 starts in his third season with the D-backs.
- Grew up in Scottsdale, Ariz., and attended Desert Mountain High School, Yavapai College and Arizona State University.
- Spent 4 seasons (2015-18) with the SK Wyverns of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO), going 48-32 with a 3.86 ERA in 119 games (118 starts).
- Signed by the D-backs as a free agent on Dec. 7, 2018.
