OAKLAND – Prior to tonight’s series opener at Oakland, the Chicago White Sox announced the following four roster moves:

  •  Contract selected from Class AAA Charlotte (1): LHP Ky Bush;
  •  Returned from injury rehabilitation assignment at Charlotte and reinstated from 60-day injured list (1): RHP Dominic Leone;
  •  Optioned to Charlotte (2): RHP Prelander Berroa and LHP Sammy Peralta.

Bush, 24, will start tonight’s game at the Athletics for his major-league debut and wear uniform No. 57.

Bush is 7-4 with a 2.89 ERA (32 ER/99.2 IP), .196 (70-357) opponents average and 94 strikeouts in 18 appearances (16 starts) with Class AAA Charlotte and Class AA Birmingham this season. He recorded a 2.12 ERA (19 ER/80.2 IP), 1.03 WHIP and 78 strikeouts over 14 starts with Birmingham before his promotion to Charlotte. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound Bush is rated by Baseball America as the No. 6 prospect in the White Sox system, and ranked No. 17 by MLB.com.

Bush was acquired by the White Sox with catcher Edgar Quero from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for right-handers Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo López on July 26, 2023. He is 18-18 with a 4.24 ERA (135 ER/286.1 IP) and 293 strikeouts (9.22 per 9.0 IP) in 61 career games (59 starts) over four seasons in the Angels (2021-23) and Sox (2023-24) organizations. Bush originally was selected by Los Angeles-AL in the second round of the 2021 draft out of St. Mary’s College of California.

Leone, who has appeared in four rehab games with the Knights, has been on the injured list since May 21 with right elbow inflammation. He is 0-1 with a 7.04 ERA (12 ER/15.1 IP), three holds and 15 strikeouts in 18 relief outings with Chicago this season.

Berroa has allowed three runs on two hits with three strikeouts in 2.0 IP over three relief appearances with Chicago this season.

Peralta struck out four over 3.1 scoreless IP in relief yesterday at Minnesota. He has surrendered six runs with eight strikeouts in 10.2 IP over seven relief outings with the White Sox in 2024.

Following the moves, Chicago’s 40-man roster increases to 40.
