Boxing Preview: David Benavídez (27-0-0, 23 KOs) vs Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (32-0-0, 19 KOs)

David Benavídez, the undefeated two-time super middleweight champ, will put his Interim WBC Super Middleweight Title on the line. His challenger? None other than the unbeaten two-division champ, Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade.

The ring for this exciting fight will be the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas. And it’s all going down on Saturday, November 25 live on Showtime PPV.

This Benavidez vs. Andrade fight is stirring some serious excitement in the super middleweight division.  It’s a showdown between two undefeated boxers who not only have respectable world championship histories but also exciting, and let’s face it, super tricky boxing styles. While Benavidez charges forward like a bulldozer with boxing gloves, Andrade is the Picasso of boxing, painting masterstrokes in the ring.

Thinking of grabbing a front-row seat to witness this action live? Well, tickets, brought to you by TGB Promotions and Sampson Boxing, are now up for grabs at AXS.com.

Tom Brown, the big guy over at TGB Promotions, is convinced November 25 will be like Thanksgiving for boxing fans. David Benavídez, one of boxing’s heavy hitters, is taking on Andrade, arguably his toughest opponent yet.

Sampson Lewkowicz, from Sampson Boxing, chipped in with his two cents. Both Benavidez and Andrade are the kind of boxers that make other fighters reconsider their career choices. That’s right! These two are finally clashing on November 25. And given the golden opportunity hanging for the winner, Sampson’s betting his chips on both fighters bringing their A-game. He’s particularly tipping his hat to Benavidez for always being game to step into the ring with literally anyone. That’s the spirit of a real champ!

Stephen Espinoza from Showtime Networks thinks this fight is gonna be a career game-changer for both fighters. Plus, it adds to an already sizzling roster of events on SHOWTIME PPV. But hey, they’re not stopping there. Expect a great lineup of supporting fights that will have you glued to your seats.

Benavídez, at 26 and boasting an unbeaten record (27-0, 23 KOs), is no stranger to the spotlight. Remember when he trounced Caleb Plant? That was him! From Phoenix, now training in Seattle, this guy has knockout power and a constantly evolving fight game. And fun fact: he shed a whopping weight from 250 pounds to become a boxing sensation under the guidance of his father and trainer, Jose, Sr., and his boxer bro, Jose Jr. This lad has even sparred with legends like Gennady Golovkin and Peter Quillin. Coming into this fight, he’s got a series of knockout wins under his belt.

Boo Boo Andrade, the 2008 U.S. Olympian with a record of (32-0, 19 KOs). This guy’s got accuracy and defense skills that’ll make you go, “Did he just do that?” Now fighting for the second time in the super middleweight division, Andrade’s already left an indelible mark in the boxing world. With victories over legends like Keith Thurman and Shawn Porter, he’s definitely not here to play.

In his own words, Benavidez says, “Andrade’s got moves, but I’ve got the size and strength. November 25, I’m gunning for a knockout!” Andrade, on his part, confidently states, “I’ve been training hard, and on fight night, it’ll show. I’ve got what it takes to take down anyone, including Benavidez.”

DAVID BENAVIDEZ

“This is unarguably the most significant fight in my career. I have immense respect for Demetrius. He’s an excellent boxer, and for a long duration, it seemed everyone was avoiding him. No one was willing to give him a chance, but now, we’ve come together to make an exciting fight happen. These are the kinds of fights I crave. I want to forge my path and compete against the best. Andrade ranks among the elite in our weight division.

“I’m aware this won’t be a walk in the park, but ultimately, it will bring out my best. They call me a monster for a reason.

“Demetrius Andrade is entirely different from Caleb Plant, from his fighting stance to his choice of combinations. My responsibility is to study him, to learn from his past fights and devise a strategy. He’s not just any boxer; he’s a world-class fighter who won’t make this easy for me. His desire for this fight ensures it will be fantastic, and the real winners will be the fans.

“My focus isn’t on Canelo Alvarez; it’s on Demetrius Andrade. I firmly believe the victor of this fight will be the premier super middleweight globally.

“He’s exceptionally skilled and has claimed championships in two different weight divisions. When facing a boxer of this caliber, it’s an even split. He poses a risk to everyone, which is why many have steered clear of fighting him. But I want to reach the pinnacle.

“My motive for taking up this challenge is to silence the critics. When I’m up against formidable fighters, it brings out the best in me, elevating me to their level.

“Preparation is key to winning fights, and I’ve been training with immense intensity. The motivation has been high since my previous fight. I aspire to maintain my status on the pay-per-view stage. It requires constant hard work, discipline, and motivation.

“During our two fights, I peered into his soul. I sensed his fear, although he’ll likely claim the same about me.”

DEMETRIUS ANDRADE

“This presents a fantastic chance for both David Benavidez and me to showcase our skills. I’m thrilled. This is an excellent fight, and David is allowing me the chance to secure a world championship in a third weight division. I’m all set for this. We’re prepared to battle.

“You can’t find fault with this man, so we’re in for an excellent fight. Our styles will mesh perfectly, and I believe we’ll entertain the audience. Victory shall favor the superior man.

“This is akin to the Super Bowl for the 168-pound division. It doesn’t get bigger than this. We’re the fighters everyone has shied away from. Indeed, I haven’t taken on the finest because they’ve refused to challenge me. He can assert the same. But now, the moment has arrived. This is it.

“It’s heartwarming to witness these father-son dynamics. David and Jose Sr. are joining forces successfully. I share a similar bond. That connection is precious. I’m aware of the affection he will have in his corner, just as I will in mine.

“I trust in my strength, intelligence, resilience, and spirit to triumph over any obstacle. I’m sure Benavidez possesses a similar spirit. Come November 25, we will be spicing up the holiday season. I certainly have what it takes.

“This fight will conclude the year, standing shoulder to shoulder with the year’s best fights showcased on SHOWTIME. We will fulfill our duty to ensure it’s remembered as the year’s premier fight.

“My goal is to dominate the entire super middleweight division. Conquering a third division affirms my claim to being the best. This transcends Canelo. It’s significantly more substantial. We cannot merely hold back and wait for him. The fight between David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade is the pinnacle.”

JOSE BENAVIDEZ SR., Benavidez’s Father and Trainer

“Andrade is an exceptional boxer. He’s unique and poses a significant threat. He holds a championship title and has an Olympic background, but I believe David will triumph by the eighth round. We need to validate our worth, and David must deliver an unforgettable performance to secure more prominent fights. I regard David as the finest boxer in the 168-pound division globally.”

UNDERCARD: JERMALL CHARLO VS JOSE BENAVIDEZ

Jermall Charlo, the reigning WBC Middleweight World Champion, who has yet to face defeat, is set to throw down with the vibrant Jose Benavidez Jr. in a 10-round WBC special event. This bout is the appetizer to a full plate of boxing on SHOWTIME PPV, coming to fans live from Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay in Vegas on Saturday, November 25.

Fans of the sweet science can expect an adrenaline-fueled evening as IBF super lightweight kingpin Subriel Matias squares off against the undefeated Shohjahon Ergashev. Adding to the lineup, Hector Luis Garcia, the WBA Super Featherweight World Champion, will battle it out with the highly-rated Lamont Roach. The action kicks off at 8 p.m. ET, sharp.

Las Vegas will be under the boxing spotlight as David “El Monstruo” Benavídez defends his Interim WBC Super Middleweight belt against the undefeated challenger Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade. It’s a fight that’s stirring up a storm of excitement in the super middleweight division.

Tom Brown, TGB Promotions’ big boss, promises a night to remember: “Boxing fans are in for a treat. Jermall Charlo will display why he’s the champ against a charged-up Jose Benavidez Jr. Champions like Subriel Matias and Hector Luis Garcia will go toe-to-toe with eager contenders, ready to snatch their crowns. With every bout having the potential to captivate the crowd, those in the arena and watching at home will witness a night that could be etched in boxing history.”

Charlo, a force in the ring with a pristine 31-0 record, is coming off a more than two-year hiatus, his middleweight supremacy undisputed since 2019. This champion, with a knockout reel that would make a highlight reel blush, is set to remind the world why his name is etched at the top, come November 25.

“I’m wired to rise above, and Vegas will see just that,” Charlo assures his fans. “Every chapter in my career has been a step up, and this next one? It’s going to sizzle. So tune in; you won’t want to miss this.”

Meanwhile, Phoenix’s own Benavídez, brother to the headliner David, is a veteran in the ring, boasting a storied amateur career. Moving up in weight seems to have done him a world of good, packing more punch and looking to prove a point in the middleweight territory.

Benavídez keeps it simple: “I’m here to show, not tell. November 25, my fists will do all the talking.”

The story is equally inspiring for Matías, the powerhouse from Puerto Rico. With a 19-1 record that speaks volumes of his power, Matias is on a mission to conquer Las Vegas, the very place that handed him his lone defeat.

“Actions over words,” says Matias, “and my actions on November 25 will resonate back home in Puerto Rico.”

Ergashev, now fighting out of Detroit with legendary coach SugarHill Steward, has steamrolled his way through the competition. This Uzbekistan native is laser-focused on securing that world title, a dream that could very well become a reality on Thanksgiving weekend.

“America is where dreams come true, and I’m living proof,” states a determined Ergashev. “With SHOWTIME as my stage, I’m set to make history.”

García, having put on a commendable fight against Gervonta Davis, is stepping back down to super featherweight, where he feels unstoppable. The Dominican Republic Olympian and now Las Vegas resident is all set to defend his title against Roach, a hungry contender ready for his moment in the spotlight.

García exudes confidence: “I’m hitting my stride, and on November 25, I’ll be ready to showcase the fruits of my labor.”

Roach, hailing from Washington, D.C., is riding a four-fight win streak, earning his title shot with skill and determination. With his sights set firmly on the title, Roach is brimming with confidence.

“The wait is over,” Roach declares. “The world will see a new champion crowned, and it starts with my victory on November 25.”

SERGEY LIPINETS VS. MICHEL RIVERA & RISING STARS SHINE ON NOV 25 SHOWTIME PPV UNDERCARD

On November 25, Las Vegas will not just be the city of lights and late-night escapades; it will transform into the epicenter of a significant boxing showdown. The Michelob ULTRA Arena will set the stage for an event where former world champions and rising stars collide, presented by the good folks at Premier Boxing Champions. But hey, let’s not act like we haven’t seen this kind of setup before.

Leading the charge into the night’s festivities is Sergey Lipinets, a man whose fists have as much history as the cobblestones of Kazakhstan. He’s squaring up against Michel Rivera, a super lightweight contender. They’re not just throwing punches for the fun of it—this 10-round fight is serious business.

And let’s not forget the young blood, Vito Mielnicki Jr., who’s stepping into the ring against Alexis Salazar. If you haven’t seen Mielnicki fight, picture a combination of raw power and the kind of ambition that makes mountain climbers look lazy. This 10-round super welterweight fight isn’t just a stepping stone—it’s more like a launch pad for these two.

The livestream, starting at 6 p.m. ET, promises to be so accessible, you’ll feel like you’re ringside without the risk of getting splashed with sweat. And if you’re a fan of the MORNING KOMBAT digital talk show, you’re in for a treat with hosts Luke Thomas and Brian Campbell.

Now, onto the main event. Imagine undefeated two-time super middleweight world champion David “El Monstruo” Benavídez and unbeaten two-division world champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade sharing the same air, let alone the same ring. They’re headlining the pay-per-view telecast at 8 p.m. ET, defending and challenging for titles and legacies in a division that’s overflowing with talent.

Lipinets, with a record that speaks for itself, is on a quest to reclaim glory in the 140-pound division. His transition from kickboxing to boxing was smoother than a con artist at a high school reunion, and his world championship win in 2017 was as respectable as it gets. Although he had a hiccup against Mikey Garcia and a tough outing against Jaron Ennis, his recent victory over Omar Figueroa Jr. proved he’s still a name to reckon with.

Rivera, with the kind of origin story that screenwriters drool over, has been making noise from Santo Domingo to Massachusetts, racking up wins with the kind of frequency that would make a metronome jealous. His move to 140-pounds is like a plot twist in a telenovela, and fans are eager to see if he can write his redemption arc.

As for Mielnicki, the kid’s got a right hook that could turn skeptics into believers. His amateur record is as shiny as a new penny, and he’s been knocking out opponents like he’s flipping burgers at a barbecue—efficient and satisfying. Salazar, with his own impressive winning streak, isn’t just another rung on the ladder for Mielnicki; he’s a significant test.

And then there’s the undercard, which has the kind of talent that could easily be the main event on any other night. From Pablo Vicente’s 10-round battle to the raw potential of Curmel Moton, there’s enough excitement to keep you glued to your seat.
