Club recalls Left-Handed Pitcher Cam Booser from Triple-A Worcester

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today placed right-handed pitcher Justin Slaten on the 15-Day Injured List, retroactive to July 9, with right elbow inflammation. To fill his spot on the active roster, the club recalled left-handed pitcher Cam Booser from Triple-A Worcester.

Slaten, 26, has pitched in 31 games this season, his Major League debut, going 5-2 with 10 holds and a 3.38 ERA (16 ER/42.2 IP). Originally selected by the Texas Rangers in the third round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the Texas native was acquired by Boston from the New York Mets on December 6, 2023, after being selected by the Mets in the Rule 5 Draft earlier that day.

Booser, 32, has posted a 3.00 ERA (10 ER/30.0 IP) with 34 strikeouts in 27 games this season, allowing zero runs in his last nine outings. The left-hander has also pitched in six games with Worcester, allowing seven runs in 9.0 innings with 18 strikeouts and only one walk. The Washington state native was signed by Boston as a minor league free agent on February 6, 2023.
