WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Oakland Athletics have announced that right-handed pitcher Jason Alexander has been selected from Triple-A Las Vegas, while right-handed pitcher Joey Estes has been optioned to Las Vegas. To make room on the 40-man roster, the A’s have transferred left-handed pitcher Brady Basso to the 60-day injured list.

Alexander joined the A’s as a non-roster invitee during spring training, where he posted a 5.59 ERA and a .754 opponent OPS across five relief appearances before being reassigned to minor league camp on March 10. He began the regular season at Triple-A Las Vegas, making one start on April 2 against Sacramento. In that outing, a no-decision in a 6-3 Aviators victory, Alexander pitched 3.1 innings, allowing three hits, two runs (one earned), no walks, and recording three strikeouts. The 32-year-old right-hander has prior MLB experience, compiling a 2-3 record with a 5.40 ERA in 18 career appearances (11 starts), all with Milwaukee during the 2022 season.
Estes began the season on the A’s Opening Day roster, making two starts and posting an 0-2 record with a 15.43 ERA. In those outings, he allowed 12 runs on 15 hits and six walks over 7.0 innings, striking out five batters. Meanwhile, Basso, who started the season on the 15-day injured list due to a strained left shoulder, has now been moved to the 60-day IL to accommodate the roster changes.
