BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox have announced the selection of right-handed pitcher Robert Stock to their active Major League roster from Triple-A Worcester. Stock will don jersey number 78. To make room on the roster, the team has optioned right-hander Cooper Criswell to Worcester following their doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals yesterday.

The Red Sox now have a full 40-man roster.

Stock, 35, has been impressive in his two appearances (one start) for Triple-A Worcester this season, throwing 8.1 scoreless innings while allowing three walks and striking out 12 batters. Signed by Boston as a minor league free agent on January 15, 2025, Stock also made three Grapefruit League appearances for the Red Sox in spring training. Originally drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the second round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, the California native has accumulated a 4.71 ERA (38 earned runs across 72.2 innings) in 55 career Major League games (three starts) with the San Diego Padres (2018-19), Red Sox (2020), Chicago Cubs (2021), and New York Mets (2021).

Criswell, 28, recorded his first career save in Game Two of yesterday’s doubleheader against the Cardinals, pitching three innings. This season, he has appeared in three games, allowing eight runs (four earned) across 4.1 innings. Selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 13th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the Georgia native holds a career 4.71 ERA (74 earned runs over 141.1 innings) across 41 Major League games (20 starts), including stints with the Angels (2021), Tampa Bay Rays (2022-23), and Red Sox (2024-25).
