A’s reinstate RHP Medina from injured list; option LHP Snead to Las Vegas

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s reinstated right-handed pitcher Luis Medina from the 15-day injured list and optioned left-handed pitcher Kirby Snead to Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.

Medina was 3-8 with a 5.44 ERA and .805 opponents OPS in 18 games, including 13 starts, when he was placed on the IL Aug. 21 retroactive to Aug. 19 with a blister on his right index finger. He made one rehab start with Las Vegas last Wednesday and allowed a run on four hits and a walk in 3.1 innings while striking out seven. The 24-year-old right-hander is 2-2 with a 3.66 ERA and .694 OPS over his last 10 games with the A’s after going 1-6 with a 7.55 ERA and .935 OPS over his first eight contests.

Snead was recalled from Las Vegas Aug. 1 and was 1-2 with a 4.63 ERA and .737 opponents OPS in 15 relief appearances with the A’s. He walked six and struck out nine in 11.2 innings. Snead is 1-3 with a 7.20 ERA and 1.003 OPS in 17 outings with Las Vegas.
