A’s recall RHP Romero from Las Vegas; option LHP Puk to Las Vegas

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s recalled right-handed pitcher Miguel Romero from Triple-A Las Vegas today and optioned left-handed pitcher A.J. Puk to Las Vegas following the game yesterday.

 

Romero was 3-6 with a save, a 6.40 ERA and .286 opponents batting average in 26 games, including 13 starts, with Las Vegas and will be making his Major League debut. He was originally signed by the A’s on Feb. 1, 2017 out of Cuba where he was 9-7 with nine saves and a 4.80 ERA in 46 games over four years with Guantanamo. The 27-year-old right-hander is 12-11 with 18 saves and a 4.83 ERA in 129 games, including 19 starts, in four seasons in the Oakland farm system. Romero has 243 strikeouts in 235.0 innings as a minor leaguer.

 

Puk joined the A’s for the second time this year on Aug. 10 and after four scoreless outings, he is 0-3 with a 13.50 ERA over his last seven games. He has a 6.08 ERA and .310 opponents batting average in 12 relief appearances over two stints with Oakland and is 2-3 with a 6.08 ERA and .308 opponents average in 26 games with Las Vegas.
