A’s place DH Moreland on injured list; recall OF Bolt from Las Vegas

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s placed designated hitter Mitch Moreland on the injured list retroactive to Aug. 27 with left wrist tendinitis and recalled outfielder Skye Bolt from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.

 

Moreland is batting .227 with 10 home runs and 30 RBI in 81 games with the A’s. He has started 57 games at designated hitter and seven at first base this season, with 55 of his 64 starts coming against right-handed pitchers. Since being reinstated from the injured list on July 16, Moreland is hitting .203 (14-for-69) with four homers and eight RBI in 24 games.

 

Bolt joins the A’s for the third time this season. In his most recent stint with the A’s, he went 4-for-33 (.121) in 14 games from June , and he is hitting .109 in 23 games overall with Oakland this season. Bolt has a .387 average, nine home runs, 29 RBI and a .492 on-base percentage in 51 games with the Aviators. Originally selected by Oakland in the fourth round of the 2015 draft, Bolt was designated for assignment on Opening Day, April 1. He was claimed off waivers by San Francisco on April 5 and sent to their alternate site before being recalled on April 27. Bolt went 0-for-1 in two games before he was optioned on April 28 and designated for assignment April 30. He was traded back to the A’s for cash considerations on May 5.
