A’s Place 1B Noda on 10-day Injured List; Recall INF Bride from Las Vegas

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s placed first baseman Ryan Noda on the 10-day injured list retroactive to July 19 with a fractured mandible and recalled infielder Jonah Bride from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.

Noda is batting .229 with 11 home runs, 38 RBI, 60 walks and a .375 on-base percentage in 90 games with the A’s.  He leads the American League and ranks fourth in the majors in walks, and his on-base percentage is 15th best in the majors.  Noda leads Major League rookies in walks, ranks third in on-base percentage, is tied for seventh in doubles (17) and extra base hits (29), eighth in runs (43), ninth in RBI, 10th in OPS (.793) and tied for 10th in home runs.

Bride joins the A’s for the second time this year after hitting .196 with four RBI and a .323 on-base percentage in 21 games during his first stint from May 29 to June 29.  He batted .340 with two home runs, nine RBI and a 1.017 OPS in 14 games with Las Vegas following his June 30 option and is hitting .316 with 10 home runs, 43 RBI and a 1.000 OPS in 57 games overall with the Aviators.  The 27-year-old right-handed hitter made 17 starts at third base with the A’s and 48 starts at third, three at second, two at first and two at designated hitter with Las Vegas.
