A’s Non-Tender Guerra, Koenig and MacKinnon

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s did not tender contracts to right-handed pitcher Deolis Guerra, left-handed pitcher Jared Koenig and infielder David MacKinnon, the club announced today.

Guerra made one appearance in Spring Training and began the season on the injured list with a sprained right ulnar collateral ligament. He underwent right elbow UCL reconstructive surgery on April 13 and missed the entire season.

Koenig made both his Triple-A and Major League debuts in 2022. He began the year at Las Vegas and went 6-6 with a 4.71 ERA and .753 opponents OPS in 20 games, including 18 starts. The 28-year-old left-hander then compiled a 1-3 record with a 5.72 ERA and .756 OPS in 10 games, five starts, over four stints with the A’s.

MacKinnon made his Major League debut with the Angels in 2022 and was claimed off waivers by the A’s on Aug. 5. He went 0-for-13 in six games with the A’s and batted .140 with six RBI in 22 games overall. The 27-year-old right-handed hitter combined for a .318 average, 15 home runs, 54 RBI and a 1.001 OPS in 79 games with Triple-A Salt Lake and Triple-A Las Vegas.

The A’s now have three open spots on the 40-man roster.
