LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers traded right-handed pitcher Dennis Santana to the Texas Rangers in exchange for minor league left-handed pitcher Kelvin Bautista.
Bautista, 21, has been with the Rangers organization since 2017, posting a combined record of 3-1 with a 3.70 ERA (23 ER/56.0 IP) and 71 strikeouts in 32 minor leagues across two rookie ball levels. In 2019, he split his time between the Dominican Summer League and the Arizona Summer League, going 1-0 and 2.48 ERA (8 ER/29.0 IP) and 46 strikeouts. He originally signed as an international free agent on October 6, 2017 out Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Santana, 25, appeared in 16 games for the Dodgers in 2021, posting a 6.00 ERA (10 ER/15.0 IP) and eight strikeouts. He had been with the Dodgers parts of four seasons, going a combined 2-2 with a 6.42 ERA (29 ER/40.2 IP) and 36 strikeouts. The San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic born right-hander was originally signed by the Dodgers as an international free agent in March of 2013.
