The Pittsburgh Pirates today claimed right-handed pitcher Eric Hanhold off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles.
The 28-year-old Hanhold made 10 relief appearances with the Orioles this past season, going 0-0 with a 6.97 ERA (10.1ip/8er), 13 hits allowed, three walks and six strikeouts.
He also spent a majority of the 2021 season with Triple-A Norfolk, where he went 1-1 with four saves, a 5.19 ERA (26.0ip/15er), 16 walks and 27 strikeouts in 25 relief appearances.
Hanhold was originally selected by Milwaukee in the sixth round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft. He was acquired by the Mets from Milwaukee in exchange for Neil Walker on September 12, 2017, and made his MLB debut one year later. Hanhold was then claimed off waivers by Baltimore on September 16, 2019, and spent the 2020 season at Baltimore’s alternate training site.
