BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today announced the following roster moves:

  • Reinstated infielder/outfielder Pablo Reyes from the 10-Day Injured List.
  • Optioned right-handed pitcher Justin Garza and left-handed pitcher Brandon Walter to Triple-A Worcester following last night’s game against the New York Mets.

Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.

Reyes, 29, was placed on the Injured List on June 23 with a right abdominal strain. He played in 11 rehab games for Worcester and Double-A Portland, making four starts at second base, four in center field, two as the designated hitter, and one at shortstop. The right-handed hitter has batted .303 (20-for-66) in 27 games for the Red Sox since he was acquired from the Oakland Athletics in a minor league trade on May 12. Originally signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in May 2012, the Dominican Republic native has hit .250 (90-for-360) in 175 career games with Pittsburgh (2018-19), the Milwaukee Brewers (2021-22), and Boston (2023).

Garza, 29, allowed three runs in 0.2 innings on Saturday against the Mets. In 17 games (one start) for Boston this season, the right-hander has posted a 7.36 ERA (15 ER/18.1 IP). Claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels on April 28, the California native owns a 5.74 (30 ER/47.0 IP) in 38 career Major League games (one start) for Cleveland (2021) and Boston (2023).

Walter, 26, tossed a scoreless ninth inning last night against the Mets. In six games for Boston this season, the left-hander has posted a 3.07 ERA (5 ER/14.2 IP). Ranked among the Red Sox’ top 10 prospects by MLB.com (No. 7) and Baseball America (No. 8), the Delaware native has also recorded a 6.08 ERA (43 ER/63.2 IP) in 14 games (12 starts) for Worcester this season.
