* Cole Knuble became the first Flyers player in 30 years to record his first career multi-goal game in two or fewer contests as Philadelphia bested Buffalo to earn its third straight win.

STÜTZLE, SANDERSON SPARK SENATORS PAST PANTHERS
After Brady Tkachuk (1-0—1) opened the scoring in his return to Ottawa, Tim Stützle (1-1—2) and Jake Sanderson (0-2—2) each posted a multi-point performance to help the Senators defeat the Panthers and improve to 7-3-0 to start the season.

* Stützle scored his 38th career power-play goal and tied Jochen Hecht for the third most by a German player in NHL history, while Sanderson (305 GP) became the second-fastest Senators defenseman to 40 career multi-point games behind Erik Karlsson (233 GP).
* Stützle also collected an assist on one of two tallies the Senators netted on the penalty kill in the third period, marking just the 10th time in franchise history that Ottawa has scored multiple shorthanded goals in a single period and first since Jan. 30, 2025 (2 in P2).

JETS TO CONTEST FINAL GAME BEFORE HERITAGE CLASSIC
The Jets (4-3-2, 10 points) are on the road in Dallas for a Central Division clash against the Stars (5-3-1, 11 points) in Winnipeg’s final contest before hosting the Canadiens outdoors at Princess Auto Stadium for the 2026 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic (Sunday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. ET on SN, TVAS, TNT, truTV, HBO MAX).

* Long-tenured Jets Kyle Connor (8-3—11 in 9 GP) and Mark Scheifele (2-6—8 in 9 GP) are once again among the team leaders in points. Since the start of the 2025-26 season, Connor and Scheifele have factored on the same goal 120 times (either one assisting on a goal by the other or both assisting on the same goal by another teammate) – more than any other duo in the NHL over that span and just ahead of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl (115).
* Winnipeg will become the second Canadian city to host two NHL outdoor games (Edmonton: Heritage Classic in 2003 & 2023) and the 10th city overall to host multiple outdoor games. MORE THINGS TO WATCH FOR THURSDAY
* Toronto hosts New York with Sergei Bobrovsky (458) one win from matching Hall of Fame Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist (459) for sixth on the NHL’s all-time wins list and first among goaltenders born outside North America.
* Quinn Hughes (68-430—498 in 517 GP) is closing in on 500 career NHL points. He is tracking towards becoming the second-fastest active defenseman (Cale Makar: 467 GP) and second-fastest U.S.-born player (Brian Leetch: 496 GP) to reach the benchmark.
* Connor McDavid (6-20—26 in 9 GP), who has the most four point games this season (3 GP), enters Thursday looking to join Mario Lemieux (3x, fewest: 8 GP in 1988-89), Mike Bossy (10 GP in 1984-85)and Wayne Gretzky (10 GP in 1984-85) as the only skaters in League history to reach the 30-point mark in 10 games or fewer.
* Matthew Schaefer and the Islanders open an ESPN+ doubleheader against the Kings at UBS Arena. Schaefersits one point away from Doug Bodger (68) for the seventh most by a teenage defenseman in NHL history, a list that is topped by Phil Housley (132).
* There could also be plenty of offense to close out the ESPN+ doubleheader when the NHL’s two newest franchises face off. Utah (3.8 G/GP) and Seattle (3.7 G/GP) rank fifth and sixth, respectively, in goals per game this season and have found offense throughout the lineup. The Mammoth lead the League in unique goal scorers this season (18), while the Kraken co-lead (w/ VGK) in unique multi-goal scorers (12). Both clubs have scored five or more goals in four games in 2026-27, which trails only Vegas (5 GP).
