MLS Preview: San Jose Earthquakes (6-5-4) at Colorado Rapids (2-8-6)

The Colorado Rapids haven’t lost any of their last 11 home matches against the San Jose Earthquakes (W6 D5) dating back 2014, including winning six of the last seven. The Colorado Rapids have never gone 12 straight regular season home matches without defeat against a single opponent in the club’s history.

The Colorado Rapids are on a six-game losing streak in all competitions with four of those losses coming at home. The Colorado Rapids have never lost five consecutive home games in all competitions.

The San Jose Earthquakes snapped a 15-game road winless streak in all competitions (D4 L11) with a 1-0 in at the Seattle Sounders FC. The victory was San Jose’s first shutout win on the road in MLS since another 1-0 win against the Seattle Sounders FC (July 2021) as they now look for consecutive road wins for the first time since July 2019.

Sam Nicholson and Cole Bassett both scored in the Colorado Rapids’ 3-2 loss to the Columbus Crew SC, which was the Colorado Rapids second loss in two weeks in which they scored multiple goals (also May 20 vs Real Salt Lake). Prior to that, the Colorado Rapids had lost once in its previous 33 league games when scoring at least two goals(W28 D4).

Jeremy Ebobisse scored a close-range goal left-footed shot in the San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 win on Wednesday for his 23rd goal since the beginning of last season. In that time, Ebobisse is the only MLS player with 20+ goals who scored at least 10 of them with his left-foot.
