ROAD WARRIORS
The Cats enter Game 5 having won each of their past five road playoff games dating back to Game 2 at BOS, the longest playoff road win streak in club history. Only 13 teams in NHL history have won at least six consecutive road postseason games, most recently Colorado in 2022 and Los Angeles in 2012. Over their five-game road win streak, the Cats have outscored their opponents 21-13, including overtime wins in Games 5 and 7 at Boston. Additionally, Matthew Tkachuk leads Florida with nine road points (1-8-9) since April 19 while Brandon Montour paces the club with five road goals (5-0-5). Five Panthers have averaged at least a point per game over their past five road outings: Tkachuk, Verhaeghe, Barkov, Montour and Bennett. Sergei Bobrovsky has posted a win in each of Florida’s past four road outings since April 26, posting a .936 road save percentage over that span, allowing just five total even-strength goals against.
GAME 5 STATS
The Panthers have earned the win in each of their past three Game 5s: at BOS in the first round, when Matthew Tkachuk scored his first career playoff OT goal to propel the Cats to a 4-3 win; vs. WSH in Round 1 in 2022, when Carter Verhaeghe posted a franchise-record five points (2-3-5) to help the Panthers to a 5-3 win; and vs. TBL in Round 1 in 2021 when Florida defeated the Bolts 4-1 to force a sixth game in the series.
CATS VS. LEAFS
The Panthers face off against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time. The Panthers earned points in three of their four meetings (1-1-2) with the Maple Leafs in 2022-23, with three of the four matchups ending in overtime. On March 29, Sam Reinhart scored a game-tying goal with a minute remaining in regulation to force overtime before Brandon Montour scored his second of two overtime goals during the season. Montour led the Panthers with five points (2-3-5) over the season series against Toronto, while Aleksander Barkov (1-3-4), Sam Reinhart (1-2-3) and Carter Verhaeghe (1-2-3) all posted at least three points.
