TONIGHT’S MATCHUP
Tonight, the New York Islanders host the Philadelphia Flyers in the fourth and final matchup between the two clubs this season, and the Islanders’ penultimate home game of the 2022-23 regular season slate. The last time these teams met was February 6, when Kyle Palmieri scored in a 2-1 Islander win at Wells Fargo Center. Tonight’s game is the second time this season that the Islanders have hosted the Flyers, including a 5-2 victory on November 26, 2022. The Islanders are 8-1-0 in their last nine home-ice contests against the Flyers. The Islanders improved to 7-3-0 in their last ten games at UBS Arena with a 6-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night. 12 Islanders found the scoresheet and 17 of 18 Islander skaters registered a plus-one rating or higher as the Islanders snapped a six-game winless streak against the Lightning. It was the second time in their last eight games that the Islanders won by a five-goal margin and the third time this season. It was also the fifth time this season that the Islanders scored four goals in a single period, their season-high. They outshot the Lightning 42-31 in the win.
