White Sox announce three roster moves

CLEVELAND – Prior to today’s series finale at Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox announced the following three roster moves:

·      Placed C Yasmani Grandal on the 10-day injured list with a left knee strain;

·      Selected the contract of C Carlos Pérez from Class AAA Charlotte;

·      Transferred RHP Kyle Crick to the 60-day injured list.

Grandal suffered the injury last night attempting to score on Elvis Andrus’ single in the seventh inning. He is hitting .203 (51-251) with five doubles, three home runs and 21 RBI in 74 games this season, his third with the White Sox.

Pérez, 26, is hitting .257/.319/.446 (90-350) with 13 doubles, 17 home runs, 63 RBI and 27 walks in 91 games with Charlotte this season. His 17 home runs are tied for the team lead, and his 63 RBI and 156 total bases rank second. A native of Valencia, Venezuela, Pérez has no major-league experience and will wear uniform No. 21.

  Pérez, 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds, is a career .269/.317/.383 (497-1,847) hitter with 85 doubles, 37 home runs and 239 RBI in 509 games over eight seasons (2014-19, 2021-22) in the Sox minor-league system. He originally was signed by Chicago as an international free agent on March 14, 2014.

 Crick has been on the injured list since June 14 with right elbow inflammation. He is 2-0 with a 4.02 ERA (7 ER/15.2 IP) and 19 strikeouts in 14 relief appearances with the White Sox this season.

 Following the moves, Chicago’s 40-man roster remains at 40.
