Club also signs third-round pick Tyler McDonough
BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today signed two players selected in the 2021 MLB First-Year Player Draft, including the club’s top selection, shortstop Marcelo Mayer (1st round).
The Red Sox also reached an agreement with second baseman Tyler McDonough (3rd round).
Director of Amateur Scouting Paul Toboni made the announcement.
Both Mayer, picked as the fourth overall selection, and McDonough will report to Fort Myers, FL.
