ASTROS WIN WORLD SERIES
The Astros clinched their second World Series title, both in the last six seasons (2017)…they became the first team to clinch the World Series in their home ballpark since the 2013 Red Sox, snapping the longest streak of road clinches in World Series history…excluding 2020 (neutral site), the previous seven were all clinched on the road…the Astros became the first team to lose Game 1 and win the Fall Classic since they did it in 2017 vs. LAD…they also became the first team to overcome a 2-1 series deficit and win the Fall Classic since the 2016 Cubs.

• The Astros became the first American League team to win the World Series since the 2018 Red Sox, snapping a streak of three consecutive NL titles…the American League extended their overall lead in World Series titles, 67-51.

• With the Astros win tonight, it concluded a second consecutive Postseason that did not feature a Game 7…it marks the first time there has not been a Game 7 in back-to-back Postseasons since 2009-10…there hasn’t been a Game 7 since the Braves/Dodgers and Astros/Rays both went to one in the 2020 League Championship Series…the only series to go the distance this Postseason were Padres/Mets in the NL Wild Card Series and Guardians/Yankees in the ALDS.

WORLD SERIES MVP JEREMY PEÑA
Peña hit .400 (10-for-25) with 2 2B, 1 HR and 3 RBI in the World Series…he joined George Springer in 2017 as Astros players to win World Series MVP.

• Became the third rookie (first rookie position player) to win World Series MVP, following FLA Livan Hernandez in 1997 and LAD Larry Sherry in 1959.

• Is the ninth player (2nd rookie) to win MVP of the LCS and World Series: LAD Corey Seager in 2020, SF Madison Bumgarner in 2014, STL David Freese in 2011, PHI Cole Hamels in 2008, FLA Livan Hernandez in 1997, LAD Orel Hershiser in 1988, STL Darrell Porter in 1982 and PIT Willie Stargell in 1979.

• Is the seventh shortstop to win World Series MVP, joining LAD Corey Seager in 2020, SF Edgar Renteria in 2010, STL David Eckstein in 2006, NYY Derek Jeter in 2000, DET Alan Trammell in 1984 and NYY Bucky Dent in 1978.

• Is the 12th foreign-born World Series MVP and second straight (Soler, 2021).

• Is the first son of a Major Leaguer to win World Series Most Valuable Player.

• According to Stats LLC, is the only player to win a Gold Glove, LCS MVP and World Series MVP over an entire career, though he did it within a single season.

• Hit safely in all 6 games this World Series and is the only rookie with a 6-game World Series hitting streak…his 20 hits this Postseason tied for 4th among rookies for a single Postseason behind TB Randy Arozarena (29) in 2020, NYY Derek Jeter (22) in 1996 and HOU Yuli Gurriel (21) in 2017…is one of four rookies with two game-winning RBI in a World Series, joining NYY Hideki Matsui in 2003, CIN Hal Morris in 1990 and NYY Gil McDougald in 1951.

ASTROS MANAGER DUSTY BAKER
Won his first World Series title as a manager in his third appearance in the Fall Classic as a manager, previously losing in 2021 as the Astros skipper and 2002 as the San Francisco Giants skipper…according to Stats LLC, he became the oldest manager or head coach in MLB, NBA, NFL or NHL history to win a championship…is one of 12 managers in Major League history with 2,000 regular season wins and each of the 12 to reach that milestone have won a World Series title.

• Baker’s 51 career Postseason wins as a manager are the 4th-most all-time, trailing Hall of Famers Joe Torre (84), Tony La Russa (71) and Bobby Cox (67).

HOUSTON ASTROS
The Astros went 11-2 this Postseason, with their only 2 losses coming in the World Series (Game 1 at home, Game 3 at PHI)…they improved to 13-17 all-time in World Series games, including 5-10 in them at home…the Astros went 2-1 in World Series home games this year after a combined 1-6 in 2019 and 2021.

• Astros pitchers combined for 71 SO in the 6 games against the Phillies, passing the 2020 Dodgers (vs. TB) and 2001 Yankees (vs. ARI) for a World Series record.

YORDAN ALVAREZ
Snapped a 10-game homerless drought with a go-ahead, 3-run shot off José Alvarado in the 6th inning…marked his first since he totaled 4 hits, 1 2B, 2 HR and 7 RBI in Games 1-2 of the ALDS vs. SEA…became the fourth Astro to hit a go-ahead homer in a potential World Series-clinching game, joining Yuli Gurriel in 2019 Game 7 vs. WSH (broke 0-0 tie), Alex Bregman in 2019 Game 6 vs. WSH (broke 1-1 tie) and George Springer in 2017 Game 6 at LAD (broke 0-0 tie).

• Marked his third go-ahead homer in the 6th inning (or later), tied with ANA Troy Glaus (3) in 2002 for most in a single Postseason…is tied for the 2nd-most of this type over an entire Postseason career behind Carlos Correa (4).

• At 450 feet, it marked the 2nd-longest World Series homer since Statcast data is available (since 2015) behind ATL Freddie Freeman (460) in 2021 Game 5.

• Combining regular season plus Postseason, his 12 “left-on-left” homers this year rank 3rd in MLB behind TEX Corey Seager (14) and HOU Kyle Tucker (13).

FRAMBER VALDEZ
Went 2-0 with a 1.46 ERA (12.1-IP, 2-ER) and 18 SO in 2 starts this World Series…is one of two Astros with multiple wins in the same World Series, joining José Urquidy (2) in 2021…retired 13 of his last 14 BF, and his only run allowed was a Kyle Schwarber solo homer that snapped a streak of retiring 10 straight.

• His 18 SO set an Astros World Series record, passing Gerrit Cole (15) in 2019…had 9 SO in each start, tying Astros single-game World Series records.

• Struck out the side in a perfect 3rd inning and struck out his first 2 BF in the 4th…the five consecutive strikeouts fell one shy of matching the World Series record shared by STL Todd Worrell in 1985 Game 5 vs. KC, BAL Moe Drabowsky in 1966 Game 1 at LAD and CIN Hod Eller in 1919 Game 5 at CHW.

• According to Stats LLC, he joined LAD Sandy Koufax in 1963 Game 1 at NYY as the only lefties to record five consecutive strikeouts in a World Series game.

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
The Phillies lost a third consecutive game and were eliminated from the Postseason…they were eliminated in the World Series for the sixth time (also 2009, 1993, 1983, 1950, 1915), while they have won World Series titles in 2008 and 1980…Phillies batters struck out 71 times this series, setting a World Series record over the 2020 Rays (70) and 2001 Diamondbacks (70)…over their Game 4-6 losses, the Phillies hit a combined .101 with 3 runs, 9 hits (2 HR) and 38 SO.

• The Phillies totaled 24 HR in 17 games this Postseason, including six each from Bryce Harper, Rhys Hoskins and Kyle Schwarber…they became the first team to have three players with 6 HR (or more) in the same Postseason.

KYLE SCHWARBER
Hit a go-ahead homer in the 6th inning, his second straight game with a homer (leadoff shot in Game 5)…is the third Phillie to homer in back-to-back World Series games, joining Chase Utley in 2009 Games 4-5 vs. NYY and Ryan Howard in 2008 Games 3-4 vs. TB…has 3 HR since Game 3 vs. HOU and is the fourth Phillie with 3 HR in a World Series, following Utley (5) in 2009, Lenny Dykstra (4) in 1993 and Howard (3) in 2008…his 6 HR this Postseason are tied with Bryce Harper in 2022, Rhys Hoskins in 2022, Utley in 2009 and Dykstra in 1993 for 2nd in a single Postseason in Phillies history behind Jayson Werth (7) in 2009.

GAME 6 RESULTS
The Astros are now 1-3 all-time in Game 6 of the World Series…lost in 2021 vs. ATL (eliminated), 2019 vs. WSH (also lost Game 7) and 2017 at LAD (won G7).

• The Phillies are now 1-3 all-time in Game 6 of the World Series, with the only win coming in 1980 vs. KC to win the Fall Classic…all three of their Game 6 losses have resulted in elimination: tonight, 2009 at NYY and 1993 at TOR.

• The Astros improved to 17-21 all-time in potential series-clinching games, including 2-3 in the World Series…the Phillies fell to 8-13 all-time in potential elimination games, including 2-6 in the World Series and 4-7 on the road.
