Earlier today, the Yankees claimed OF Oscar Gonzalez off waivers from the Cleveland Guardians.
Gonzalez, 25, hit .214 (37-for-173) with 15R, 7 doubles, 2 triples, 2HR, 12RBI and 5BB in 54 games for the Guardians in 2023. Additionally, Gonzalez appeared in 83 games for Triple-A Columbus, batting .287/.323/.496 (96-for-335) with 49R, 23 doubles, 4 triples, 13HR, 64RBI and 19BB. Over two Major League seasons with Cleveland (2022-23), the right-handed batter has hit .269 (144-for-535) with 54R, 34 doubles, 2 triples, 13HR, 55RBI and 20BB in 145 games. The Sabana Grande de Palenque, D.R., native was originally signed by Cleveland as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2014.
