WNBA Preview: Indiana Fever (1-5) at Minnesota Lynx (1-6)

For the second time, the Minnesota Lynx will try to win their second straight game.

After its game Wednesday night at the New York Liberty was postponed due to poor air quality in New York City because of smoke from Canadian wildfires, Minnesota will host the Indiana Fever on Friday night.

The Lynx (1-6) haven’t played since an 80-78 win Saturday night in Washington, where they got a putback from Tiffany Mitchell with three seconds left to snap a tie and end a six-game slide to start the season.

Kayla McBride pumped in a game-high 24 points for the Lynx, while Napheesa Collier added 17 points and nine rebounds. On the season, Collier is scoring a team-high 18.6 points per game and McBride is contributing 14.8.

Meanwhile, Indiana (1-5) lost another close game to a good team on Tuesday night, falling 108-103 in overtime in Chicago. The Fever could have won with one defensive stop but allowed a layup to Alanna Smith as time expired in regulation, then were outscored 17-12 in the extra period.

Wasted in the team’s loss was the best performance of rookie Aliyah Boston’s six-game WNBA career. The No. 1 overall pick in April’s draft exploded for 25 points and 11 rebounds in Chicago, putting the Fever ahead with a layup with 2.7 seconds left.

Indiana won two of three meetings last year from Minnesota.
