WNBA Preview: Chicago Sky (8-13) at Seattle Storm (4-17)

It’s been a tough season for the Seattle Storm and Chicago Sky, but one team will see its losing streak end when they face off Saturday night in Seattle.

The Storm (4-17) have lost their last eight, including a 79-63 defeat at the hands of the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday, while the Sky (8-13) have dropped four in a row, their latest an 80-62 loss against the Mercury on Thursday.

Seattle is searching for stability with the second half underway and head coach Noelle Quinn hopes the team can find it soon. Twelve players have seen time in the starting lineup.

“There’s not going to be a set rotation,” Quinn told the Seattle Times. “Just continuing to find production everywhere.”

Jewell Loyd and Ezi Magbegor scored 12 apiece in the loss to the reigning champion Aces, who had beaten Seattle by 41 and 33 earlier this season.

“We’re not where we want to be, but that is what the second half of the season is, to continue to grow and progress in a lot of ways,” Quinn said.

The Sky struggled out of the gate against Phoenix as they opened the second half of the season on the road, falling behind 22-8 after one quarter. Kahleah Copper poured in 17 points to lead the Sky, who are hoping to flip the script soon.

Copper is optimistic.

“I’ve been on a team that hasn’t made the playoffs,” Copper told the Chicago Sun-Times. “Then I’ve been on a team that went on a run and won (a title). With that, I want to continue to keep that strong and make the playoffs.”

Entering the teams’ first meeting of the season, Chicago holds the eighth and final playoff spot, four spots ahead of Seattle.
