WNBA Preview: Atlanta Dream (3-5) at Connecticut Sun (8-2)

The Connecticut Sun look to extend their winning streak to three games by defeating the visiting Atlanta Dream for the second time in less than a week on Thursday in Uncasville, Conn.

After getting outscored 10-0 to open the game, the Sun (8-2) rolled to an 89-77 win over the host Dream (3-5) behind five double-digit scorers on Sunday in College Park, Ga.

Brionna Jones led the way with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Alyssa Thomas had 17 points to go along with 12 rebounds and a game-high eight assists.

DeWanna Bonner and Tyasha Harris added 15 points apiece, with DiJonai Carrington finishing with 12 points and six rebounds.

The Dream were paced by Cheyenne Parker’s game-high 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Allisha Gray chipped in 18 points and six rebounds, and Rhyne Howard had 16 points and eight rebounds.

The Sun scored 42 points off Atlanta’s 26 turnovers, while the Dream converted Connecticut’s 16 miscues into 12 points.

While the Sun haven’t played since beating Atlanta, the Dream ended a three-game losing streak with an 86-79 win over the host New York Liberty on Tuesday.

The Dream had six players finish in double figures, led by Gray, who had 16 points and six rebounds.

Haley Jones and AD Durr each had 13 points, while Nia Coffey, Monique Billings and Howard each finished with 12 points.

Atlanta held the Liberty’s Breanna Stewart — the league’s second-leading scorer at 23.4 points per game — to just 12 points on a season-low 1-for-14 shooting from the field.
