WINNIPEG, MB., – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced the signings of American linebacker Kobe Wilson, defensive tackle Camron Peterson, and kicker Andrew Mevis, adding depth to their roster ahead of the upcoming season.

Kobe Wilson (LB, Southern Methodist)

  • Height/Weight: 6’0″, 225 lbs
  • Born: September 26, 2001 (Snellville, GA)
  • College: SMU (2023-2024), Temple (2020-2022)

Wilson joins the Bombers following a five-year collegiate career split between SMU and Temple. He played 28 games (26 starts) at SMU, recording 117 tackles (54 solo, 63 assisted), nine tackles-for-loss, six pass breakups, four sacks, one forced fumble (one recovery), and three interceptions, including a dramatic 82-yard pick-six.

His stellar 2024 season earned him multiple accolades, including ACC Linebacker of the Week (twice), All-ACC Second Team, DCTF First Team All-Texas, AP All-ACC Second Team, and a Phil Steele All-America Honorable Mention. Before transferring to SMU, Wilson spent three seasons at Temple, where he notched 128 tackles, 11.5 tackles-for-loss, and three forced fumbles in 29 appearances (five starts).

Camron Peterson (DT, Southern)

  • Born: September 13, 1999 (Houston, TX)
  • College: Southern (2021-2022), McNeese State (2018-2020)
  • Pro Experience: Baltimore Ravens (2023), New Orleans Saints (2024 minicamp & training camp)

Peterson signs with Winnipeg following NFL stints with the Ravens and Saints, where he participated in rookie minicamps and training camp tryouts.

During his collegiate career, he played 22 games (18 starts) at Southern University, accumulating 50 tackles (14 solo, 36 assisted), 9.5 tackles-for-loss, four sacks, two quarterback hurries, and one pass breakup. His performance as a disruptive interior defender earned him All-Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) honors.

Andrew Mevis (K, Iowa State)

  • Height/Weight: 5’11”, 205 lbs
  • Born: October 12, 1998 (Warsaw, IN)
  • College: Iowa State (2021), Fordham (2017-2019)
  • Pro Experience: Jacksonville Jaguars (2022 training camp), IFL (Green Bay Blizzard, St. Louis Battlehawks, 2024)

Mevis brings professional kicking experience to Winnipeg, having spent time in the NFL (Jaguars training camp, 2022) and Indoor Football League (IFL, 2024).

He had a standout 2021 season at Iowa State, making 20 of 23 field goals (87%), including two successful kicks from 50+ yards, while converting all 32 extra-point attempts. Before transferring to Iowa State, he played 34 games at Fordham, posting a 71% field goal conversion rate (27-of-38) and 63-of-69 extra points.

With these three additions, the Blue Bombers strengthen key positions on both sides of the ball as they continue shaping their roster for the season ahead.
