Wild’s Spurgeon Fined for Cross-Checking

NEW YORK – Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for cross-checking St. Louis Blues forward Pavel Buchnevich during Game 1 of the teams’ First Round series in Minnesota on Monday, May 2, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 17:07 of the third period. Spurgeon was assessed a minor penalty for cross-checking.

The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
