CHICAGO – Prior to tonight’s series opener vs. Tampa Bay, the Chicago White Sox reinstated right-handed pitcher Lucas Giolito from the Bereavement List and optioned left-hander Tanner Banks to Class AAA Charlotte.
Giolito, 28, was placed on the Bereavement List on Monday. He is 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA (14 ER/28.0 IP) and 28 strikeouts over five starts this season.
Banks, 31, has gone 0-0 with a 3.38 ERA (3 ER/8.0 IP) and five strikeouts in four relief appearances since being recalled from Charlotte on April 14.
