KANSAS CITY – Between games of today’s doubleheader at Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox placed All-Star shortstop Tim Anderson on the 10-day injured list with a sagittal band tear on the middle finger of his left hand and reinstated right-handed pitcher Reynaldo López from the 15-day injured list.

Anderson suffered the injury, which is causing a dislocation of the exterior tendon of his finger, on a check swing during his final at-bat on Saturday night at Texas. He will undergo surgery on Thursday in Chicago in a procedure to be performed by hand specialist Dr. John Fernandez of Midwest Orthopedics at RUSH, Oakbrook Surgery Center, and is expected to miss approximately six weeks.

Anderson, who leads the White Sox with a .301 (100-332) batting average, was the starting shortstop for the American League at the All-Star Game in Los Angeles.

López, 28, was placed on the injured list on July 28 (retroactive to July 25) with a lower back strain. He is 4-2 with a 2.98 ERA (14 ER/42.1 IP), four holds, 44 strikeouts and zero home runs allowed in 37 appearances (one start) this season.
