CHICAGO – Prior to today’s series finale vs. Miami, the Chicago White Sox placed right-handed pitcher Liam Hendriks on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to June 10) with right elbow inflammation and recalled left-hander Tanner Banks from Class AAA Charlotte.
Hendriks, 34, is 2-0 with a 5.40 ERA (3 ER/5.0 IP), three strikeouts and one save over five appearances this season after being reinstated from the injured list on May 29. He began the season on the injured list to continue his treatment for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Hendriks publicly revealed his cancer diagnosis on January 8, completed treatment on April 3 and announced he was cancer free on April 20.
Banks, 31, is 2-0 with a 3.13 ERA (8 ER/23.0 IP), three walks and 30 strikeouts over 13 relief appearances with Charlotte this season. He also has gone 0-0 with a 3.38 ERA (3 ER/8.0 IP) and five strikeouts in four relief appearances over two stints with the White Sox in 2023.
