CHICAGO – Prior to tonight’s series opener vs. the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago White Sox designated left-handed pitcher Dallas Keuchel for assignment and recalled infielder Danny Mendick from Class AAA Charlotte.
Mendick is hitting .217/.280/.435 (5-23) with two doubles, one home run, three RBI and four runs scored over 11 games with the White Sox in 2022. He is batting .303/.378/.515 (10-33) with four doubles, one home run, two RBI and nine runs scored in nine games with Charlotte.
Keuchel went 2-5 with a 7.88 ERA (28 ER/32.0 IP) and 20 strikeouts in eight starts with Chicago this season, his third with the club. He finished fifth in the American League Cy Young voting in 2020 after signing as a free agent on December 30, 2019.
The White Sox 40-man roster decreases to 38.
