KANSAS CITY – Prior to today’s series opener at Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox announced the following three roster moves:
- Recalled RHP Declan Cronin from Class AAA Charlotte;
- Placed RHP Jimmy Lambert on the 15-day injured list with right ankle inflammation;
- Returned C Seby Zavala from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Charlotte, reinstated him from the injured list and designated him for assignment.
Cronin is 3-0 with a 3.62 ERA (20 ER/49.2 IP), two saves and 40 strikeouts in 45 appearances with the Knights. He owns a 7.71 ERA (6 ER/7.0 IP) and six strikeouts over five relief appearances with the Sox this season. Cronin made his major-league debut on July 30 vs. Cleveland after his contract was selected from Charlotte on July 28.
Lambert is 2-3 with a 5.26 ERA (22 ER/37.2 IP), one save and 41 strikeouts in 35 games (one start) with Chicago this season.
Zavala, who has been on the injured list since August 3 with a strained left oblique, is hitting .155 (25-161) with seven home runs and 16 RBI over 66 games in 2023 with the White Sox.
Following the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster decreases to 38.
