CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have added right-handed pitcher Nick Padilla from Class AAA Charlotte to serve as the 27th player for today’s doubleheader vs. Philadelphia.
Padilla, 26, is 0-0 with a 1.23 ERA (1 ER/7.1 IP), one walk, seven strikeouts and a .120 (3-25) opponents average in six relief appearances with Charlotte in 2023, his first full season in the White Sox organizaton.
Padilla, 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, was claimed by the Sox off waivers from the Cubs on September 9, 2022. He has gone 17-14 with a 3.10 ERA (86 ER/249.1 IP) and 254 strikeouts in 116 games (27 starts) over seven minor-league seasons in the Tampa Bay, Cubs and White Sox organizations.
Padilla has appeared in one major-league game, allowing one run over 1.2 IP of relief with the Cubs on August 23, 2022 vs. St. Louis.
