White Sox add Davis Martin as 27th player for today’s doubleheader

CLEVELAND – Prior to today’s split doubleheader at Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox added right-handed pitcher Davis Martin from Class AAA Charlotte as the 27th player. Martin will start Game 1 followed by right-hander Dylan Cease in the nightcap.

Martin has made five appearances (two starts) in three stints with the White Sox this season, going 1-2 with a 4.29 ERA (10 ER/21.0 IP) and 17 strikeouts. He worked at least 5.0 IP in each of his first four appearances, including in his first major-league win on June 15 at Detroit (5.1 scoreless IP in relief).

Martin is 5-3 with a 3.59 ERA (23 ER/57.2 IP), 73 strikeouts and a 1.09 WHIP in 12 starts between Charlotte and Class AA Birmingham this season.
