WBB-FCS: Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers (9-16) at Robert Morris Colonials (10-16)

On Sunday afternoon, at 12:00 p.m. CST at the UPMC Events Center, the Milwaukee Panthers women’s basketball team will play their final road game of the regular season against the Robert Morris Colonials in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.

Milwaukee has shot 50.0% or better in three games in a row and in four of its last five games, so the Panthers will want to maintain their hot shooting.

You can watch the game on ESPN+; while MKEPanthers.com will also provide live audio and statistics on the Black & Gold Network with Matt Menzl on the call.

SCOUTING THE COLONIALS

Robert Morris comes into Sunday’s game with a record of 10-16 overall and 4-13 in the Horizon League. The Colonials have won two of their last four games, beating Oakland and Purdue Fort Wayne.

RMU shot just 27.3 percent from the floor and 12.0 percent from three on Friday as the Colonials lost to the Green Bay Phoenix 61-37. Phoenix Gedeon scored 11 points and Simone Morris scored 10, respectively, for Robert Morris in the game. Both players also grabbed eight rebounds.

The Colonials led 9-7 after the first ten minutes of the game, but they were held scoreless in the second quarter and trailed 32-9 at halftime. Green Bay only required that to win, as the Phoenix outscored Robert Morris by just one in the second half to win 61-37.

Robert Morris is 10th in the conference in offense with 57.9 points per game, but they are fourth in defense, allowing 60.7 points per game. Gedeon is seventh in the conference when it comes to scoring with 13.3 points per game and third in the league when it comes to rebounds with 8.5 per game.

Alejandra Mastral and Rebecca Dwomoh, both of whom rank in the top five with 1.5 steals per game, are two of the Colonials’ three players who rank in the top 11 of the league in steals.

Last time these two teams met, on January 20 at the Klotsche Center, the Panthers beat the Colonials by 12 points, 72-60, in the season opener.

Kendall Nead scored a team-high 19 points in the victory, while Megan Walstad scored 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Walstad’s 16 rebounds were a season-high and the Panthers’ highest total for any player this season.

SERIES HISTORY

Since the Colonials joined the Horizon League after 38 years as a charter member of the Northeast Conference, Milwaukee has never lost to Robert Morris in any of their five all-time meetings.

The Panthers have only played in Moon Township, Pennsylvania once, on December 24, 2021, when they prevailed 66-47. Robert Morris has been defeated by Milwaukee on average 17.6 points per game, with the Colonials getting as close as eight points earlier this season.
