Virginia Lottery Releases November 2024 Sports Betting Report

The Virginia Lottery has released its report on sports wagering activity for November 2024, detailing the performance of licensed operators over the month.

From November 1 to November 30, Virginians wagered a total of $760,965,450, marking a 19.1% increase compared to the same period last year. During this time, 13 mobile operators and three casinos accepted bets in Virginia.

Players won a combined total of $674,614,210, resulting in an 11.35% win percentage for operators.

According to state law, a 15% tax is imposed on sports betting activity based on each permit holder’s adjusted gross revenue (AGR), defined as total wagers minus total winnings and other authorized deductions. Of this tax, 97.5% is allocated to the state’s General Fund, while the remaining 2.5% is directed to the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund, administered by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.

In November, ten operators reported net positive AGR, leading to $12.1 million in tax payments for the month.
