Yennier Cano optioned to Triple-A St. Paul, Royce Lewis transferred to 60-day IL
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Chi Chi González from Triple-A St. Paul.
González, who will be making his second stint with the Twins this season, made the start on June 3 at Toronto, allowing three runs on four hits in 3.0 innings pitched, with no walks and one strikeout in a Twins 9-3 victory. The 30-year-old has appeared in eight games (5 starts) for the Saints this season, going 2-2 with a 3.44 ERA (36.2 IP, 14 ER), 14 walks and 35 strikeouts. He will be making the start this afternoon against the Tampa Bay Rays.
To make room on the 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Yennier Cano to Triple-A St. Paul. Cano has appeared in nine games over two stints with the Twins this season, going 1-0 with a 9.26 ERA (11.2 IP, 12 ER), nine walks and 12 strikeouts.
Additionally, the Twins have transferred infielder Royce Lewis (right ACL injury) to the 60-day Injured List.
