The Braidwood, Illinois native was selected by the Twins in the ninth round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft out of Illinois State University. He is ranked as the organization’s 25th-best prospect by MLB.com.

Headrick will be looking to make his major league debut and wear uniform number 53.

To make room for Headrick on the 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Louie Varland to Triple-A St. Paul. Varland made the start for the Twins on Friday night at Yankee Stadium and took a no-decision, allowing three runs on six hits in 6.0 innings pitched, with one walk and eight strikeouts in a Twins 4-3 victory.
