Yennier Cano recalled
DETROIT, MI – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Sonny Gray on the 15-day Injured List (retroactive to May 30) with a right pectoral strain.
Gray started Sunday against the Kansas City Royals and departed with one on, none out in the seventh inning due to the injury. The 32-year-old has gone 3-1 with a 2.41 ERA (33.2 IP, 9 ER), 10 walks, 39 strikeouts, a .187 opponent batting average and a 0.98 WHIP in seven starts for the Twins this season. This is Gray’s second stint on the Injured List this year, after missing 19 games from April 17-May 7 with a low grade right hamstring strain.
To replace Gray on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Yennier Cano. Cano, who made his major league debut on May 11, is in his second stint with the Twins after previously being with the club from May 11-28. He has appeared in six games for Minnesota this season, allowing 11 runs on 12 hits in 7.1 innings pitched, with four walks and seven strikeouts.
