DETROIT, MI – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher José De León on the 15-day Injured List with a right flexor muscle strain.
De León, who sustained the injury while warming up in the top of the eighth inning last night in Detroit, appeared in 12 games (1 start) for the Twins this season, going 0-1 with a 4.67 ERA (17.1 IP, 9 ER), five walks and 17 strikeouts.
To replace De León on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Josh Winder from Triple-A St. Paul. Winder, who was optioned to the Saints on June 17, recently appeared in two games with St. Paul, going 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA (4.0 IP, 1 ER), two walks and seven strikeouts against the Detroit Tigers’ Triple-A affiliate, Toledo. Winder has appeared in three games for the Twins this season, going 1-0 with a 5.79 ERA (4.2 IP, 3 ER), two walks and six strikeouts across two prior stints.
