Twins place Danny Coulombe on 15-day injured list

Jovani Moran recalled, Juan Minaya contract selected, Yennier Cano optioned

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed left-handed pitcher Danny Coulombe on the 15-day Injured List with left hip impingement.

Coulombe, who was reinstated from the Injured List yesterday from the same ailment, appeared against the Royals last night, allowing one run on two hits in 0.1 innings pitched, with two walks. He has appeared in 10 games for the Twins this season, posting a 1.46 ERA (12.1 IP, 2 ER) with a .163 (7-for-43) opponent batting average.

Moran, who was with the Twins earlier this season from May 2-6, made four appearances during his most recent stint with the Saints, allowing three runs on five hits in 5.0 innings pitched, with three walks and five strikeouts while holding opponents to a .238 (5-for-21) batting average. The 25-year-old appeared in two games for the Twins earlier this month, pitching 2.2 scoreless innings with one hit allowed, no walks and five strikeouts.

Minaya, 31, appeared in 11 games for the Saints this season, going 0-1 with a 6.06 ERA (16.1 IP, 11 ER), eight walks, 16 strikeouts, a .217 (13-for-60) opponent batting average and a 1.29 WHIP. The five-year major league veteran appeared in 29 games for the Twins last season, going 2-1 with a 2.48 ERA (40.0 IP, 11 ER), 20 walks, 43 strikeouts, a .189 (27-for-143) opponent batting average and a 1.18 WHIP.

Additionally, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Yennier Cano to Triple-A St. Paul. Cano made his major league debut on May 11 and pitched in six games for the Twins, allowing 11 runs on 12 hits in 7.1 innings pitched, with four walks and seven strikeouts.
