MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed left-handed pitcher Danny Coulombe on the 15-day Injured List with left hip impingement.

Coulombe, who exited last night’s game against Houston after sustaining the injury, appeared in nine games for the Twins this season, posted a 0.75 ERA (12.0 IP, 1 ER), with seven walks, nine strikeouts, a .125 opponent batting average and a 1.00 WHIP.

To replace Coulombe on the 26-man roster, the Twins have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Yennier Cano from Triple-A St. Paul. The 28-year-old appeared in nine games for the Saints this season, going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA (12.1 IP), four walks, 14 strikeouts, a .158 opponent batting average and a 0.83 WHIP. The Havana, Cuba native was signed by the Twins as an undrafted free agent on July 15, 2019 and has pitched parts of three seasons in the Twins minor league system, going 6-3 with a 2.98 ERA (96.2 IP, 32 ER), eight saves, 52 walks and 115 strikeouts. He will be looking to make his major league debut and wear uniform number 99.

To make room for Cano on the 40-man roster, the Twins have transferred right-handed pitcher Jhon Romero to the 60-day Injured List. Romero, who was placed on the 10-day Injured List on April 23 with right biceps tendinitis, has missed Minnesota’s last 17 games.
