Club declines options on Archer, Bundy and Sanó
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have exercised the club option on right-handed pitcher Sonny Gray through the 2023 season.
Gray, who turns 33 today, made 24 starts for the Twins in 2022, going 8-5 with a 3.08 ERA (119.2 IP, 41 ER), 36 walks, 117 strikeouts and a 1.13 WHIP. He was acquired by Minnesota in a trade with Cincinnati on March 13 and has gone 90-77 with a 3.56 ERA (1387.0 IP, 549 ER), 489 walks, 1338 strikeouts and a 1.21 WHIP in 247 career games (238 starts) across 10 major league seasons with Oakland, New York-AL, Cincinnati and Minnesota.
Additionally, the Twins will decline the 2023 club options on right-handed pitchers Chris Archer and Dylan Bundy, and infielder Miguel Sanó. Archer went 2-8 with a 4.56 ERA (102.2 IP, 52 ER), 48 walks and 84 strikeouts in 25 starts for the Twins in 2022. Bundy led the club with 29 starts, going 8-8 with a 4.89 ERA (140.0 IP, 76 ER), 28 walks and 94 strikeouts. Sanó missed most of the 2022 season with injury, going 5-for-60 with one home run and three RBI in 20 games.
