MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have exercised 2024 club options on outfielder Max Kepler and infielder Jorge Polanco through the 2024 season.
Kepler, 30, hit .260 (114-for-438) with a .484 slugging percentage and an .816 OPS for Minnesota in 2023, leading the Twins in home runs (24), RBI (66) and runs scored (72), while finishing second in hits, third in games played (130) and doubles (22), and tied for third in triples (2). In 66 games after the All-Star break, he posted a .306 (72-for-235) batting average and a .926 OPS with 17 doubles, two triples, 12 home runs and 36 RBI, ranking 12th in the American League in batting average and 15th in OPS in that span. The Berlin, Germany native was signed as an undrafted free agent by Minnesota on July 11, 2009 and has hit .236 (800-for-3393) with 184 doubles, 15 triples, 153 home runs, 466 RBI, a .332 on-base percentage, a .484 slugging percentage and a .753 OPS across nine major league seasons with the Twins; he ranks 12th in club history (since 1961) in home runs and 16th in RBI.
Polanco, 30, played 80 games for the Twins in 2023, batting .255 (77-for-302) with 18 doubles, 14 home runs, 48 RBI, 36 walks, 38 runs scored, a .335 on-base percentage, a .454 slugging percentage and a .789 OPS. The San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic native signed with Minnesota as an undrafted free agent on July 6, 2009 and has hit .269 (849-for-3156) with 181 doubles, 20 triples, 112 home runs, 447 RBI, 305 walks, 443 runs scored, a .334 on-base percentage, a .446 slugging percentage and a .780 OPS in 832 games across 10 major league seasons with Minnesota. He has the most home runs in club history (since 1961) by a switch-hitter (18th overall), while ranking 17th in Minnesota history in RBI.
