TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts announced Tuesday that veteran coach Mike Miller has been named the team’s new head coach.

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native succeeds Ryan Dinwiddie, who recently accepted the dual role of head coach and general manager with the Ottawa REDBLACKS.

A Dream Realized

“The opportunity to coach this historic franchise is a dream come true for my family and me,” said Miller. “It is a privilege to be entrusted with this position, and we will stop at nothing to return to where we belong — winning Grey Cup championships.”

Leadership Endorsed

“Mike Miller is a coach who cares deeply — about the game, his players, and building relationships,” said Argonauts general manager Michael ‘Pinball’ Clemons. “His authenticity and commitment to cultivating a culture that helps young men grow on and off the field make him a tremendous fit for our family. We’re proud to have Mike leading the Argonauts.”

Proven Track Record

Miller arrives with nearly three decades of coaching experience across the NCAA, NFL, CFL, and XFL. Since joining Toronto in 2022 as quarterbacks coach, he has overseen standout performances from multiple pivots:

  • Chad Kelly — CFL’s Most Outstanding Player in 2023.
  • Nick Arbuckle — career‑best passing numbers in 2025 and Grey Cup MVP in 2024.
  • McLeod Bethel‑Thompson — CFL passing leader in 2022 under Miller’s guidance.

Career Highlights

  • Began coaching in 1997 at Robert Morris University before joining Bill Cowher’s Pittsburgh Steelers staff as offensive quality control coach.
  • Served as tight ends coach for the Buffalo Bills, followed by stints with NFL Europe’s Berlin Thunder and a return to Robert Morris.
  • Achieved success with the Arizona Cardinals (2007–2012), holding roles as receivers coach, pass game coordinator, and offensive coordinator.
    • In 2008, coached Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin to Pro Bowl seasons, with Fitzgerald, Boldin, and Steve Breaston each surpassing 1,000 receiving yards — only the fifth time in NFL history.
    • In 2009, helped Kurt Warner finish second in the NFL in completions, completion percentage, passing yards, and touchdowns, guiding Arizona to the Super Bowl.
  • Entered the CFL in 2013 with the Montreal Alouettes as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
  • Later coached at several Pennsylvania NCAA programs and with the New York Guardians (XFL) before joining Toronto.

Championship Pedigree

Miller has already contributed to Toronto’s Grey Cup victories in 2022 and 2024, and now steps into the head coach role with a mandate to continue building on that championship tradition.
