Three Minor League players suspended

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that three Minor League players have been suspended following their violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Seattle Mariners Minor League pitcher Luis Baez and San Francisco Giants Minor League pitcher Sonny Vargas, who are each currently on the roster of their Club’s rookie-level Arizona Complex League roster, have each received a 60-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Program.

Mariners Minor League pitcher Bernie Martinez, who is currently on the roster of the High-A Everett Aqua Sox, has received an 80-game suspension without pay after testing positive for LGD-4033 and Ostarine, performance-enhancing substances in violation of the Program.

The suspensions of all three players will be effective at the start of their respective 2022 seasons.
