The Swedish Gambling Authority has prohibited Newera Frozen PTE Limited and Aprodi Ltd from providing gambling in Sweden without the necessary license. The companies have organized lotteries in which so-called “skins”, cosmetic collectibles that players can obtain in computer games, are used as stakes and winnings. In some cases, skins can be sold and bought outside the computer game environment, which gives them an economic value, which is also emphasized in the design and marketing of the games. The gaming company Galaktika N.V. has also been banned from directing its gaming offering to Sweden.

In accordance with the Swedish Gambling Authority’s strategy, the Authority prioritizes measures that contribute to gambling taking place with operators who have a Swedish gaming license. The Swedish Gambling Authority therefore clarifies the grounds for the decisions to ban illegal online gambling by publishing them on its website.
