ARLINGTON, Texas – The Texas Rangers today announced a series of roster moves ahead of Tuesday night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles at Globe Life Field:

  • OF Evan Carter placed on the Bereavement List
  • RHP Dane Dunning recalled from Triple-A Round Rock
  • OF Billy McKinney selected from Round Rock and added to the 40-man roster; will wear No. 23
  • RHP Cole Winn optioned to Round Rock
  • RHP Tyler Mahle transferred to the 60-day Injured List

Player Notes

Evan Carter – OF

Carter, 22, was placed on the Bereavement List after appearing in Sunday’s series finale vs. Seattle. He has hit .283 (28-for-99) with 4 home runs, 11 RBI, 4 doubles, 8 stolen bases, and an .816 OPS over 32 games this season. He will be eligible to return no earlier than Friday, July 4.

Dane Dunning – RHP

Dunning, 30, returns for his third stint with Texas in 2025 (also: April 28–29, June 23–26). In two MLB relief outings this year, he has logged a 5.40 ERA (3 ER over 5.0 IP) and recorded 1 save. His last appearance came June 23 at Baltimore, where he tossed 2.0 innings and allowed 1 run. He was optioned four days later and did not appear in a game for Round Rock.

Billy McKinney – OF

McKinney, 30, earns a promotion after a strong run with Round Rock, batting .295/.433/.487/.920 (23-for-78) with 3 home runs, 4 doubles, 1 triple, and 18 RBI across 24 games. Since signing with Texas on May 27, he ranks among PCL leaders in on-base percentage (8th, minimum 75 AB). A left-handed hitter and thrower, McKinney has seen defensive time in LF (9 games), RF (4 games), and 1B (6 starts). He began the 2025 campaign in the New York Mets’ system, appearing in 33 games for Triple-A Syracuse before being released May 18.
